About Speakeasy League
The Speakeasy League exists to develop the mutually supportive relationship between bartenders and guests:
to support bartenders’ professional ambitions
to incentivize hospitable bartending
to educate guests on bar etiquette
and to reward the pouring of proper fucking drinks
The League does so via four mechanisms:
Continuing professional education for members
Why "Speakeasy League"?
Because Speakeasy Events are covert:
Events are not advertised or open to the public.
Events are held at rotating, undisclosed locations.
Events require a secret “passcode”, a digital token paid for with crypto, to gain entry.
Drinks are not "sold" at events.
Because Speakeasy League isn't just about bartenders. A speakeasy is the covert intersection of bartender, drink and customer. [The League is the implicit, unstated association between bartenders and patrons to celebrate drinks and their craftsmanship. Customers are in league with bartenders to create a hospitable drinking environment.]
Because speakeasies ranged the gamut of high-end cocktail bars and low-end dives. We celebrate them all.
